It depends on the carat and on the market price of gold, which changes every day. A gram of 24 carat gold is almost pure; a gram of 18 carat contains 75 % gold. The calculator gives you an estimate of what we pay; the final valuation, free of charge, is made in the shop.
Carats
The hallmark on the piece tells you how much gold it contains.
Almost pure gold. Usual for bullion bars and coins.
91.6 % gold. Common in coins and in jewellery from some countries.
75 % gold. The most common standard in Spanish jewellery.
58.5 % and 37.5 % gold. Usual in jewellery from other countries.
Why it is an estimate
The calculator uses today’s gold price and the weight you enter. In the shop we check the real carat, weigh the piece and see whether it has value as jewellery or as a watch.

Look for a small stamped number: 750 is 18 carat, 585 is 14 and 375 is 9. If you cannot find one, we check it free of charge in the shop.
